Hatchet
was written in 1987 with two sequels to follow it, Brian's Winter;
1996 and Brian's Return; 1999.
It
is an adventure story about Brian Robeson whose parents are divorced. Brian
is flying over to his dad's in a private plane. The pilot has a heart-attack
and Brian is left by himself. The plane crashes and the tennager
is stranded by a lake. With no clothes except for the ones on his
back, and a hatchet that his mother gave him as his only tool, Brian faces
the biggest challange of his life!
Being confronted with a bear, a skunk and a porcupine is only part of his
troubles! He also has a run-in with a storm, and has to sleep on
the bare ground, which is made of big bumps of rocks.
I really liked the storyline to this book. It was smoothly written
and all of the events lined up. As I was reading it, I almost felt
as though I was right there, trapped with no outside surroudings to socilize
with.
I suggest this book to anyone who loves adventure or who loves the outdoors!
I know I loved it and I hope that you do to!
